Details:
There will be two groups. The first group will leave on Thursday and will be in charge of establishing the base camp for both groups. The second group will follow on Friday and should arrive at the campsite by mid-afternoon at the latest, allowing plenty of time to explore and set up camp. On Saturday, we will enjoy a full day of hiking and off-roading activities. Finally, on Sunday, we will break camp and head back home.
Groups:
- 1st Group will head out Thursday (Lead: Gene Dahilig)
- 2nd Group will head out the next day, Friday (Lead: Anthony Portillo)
Activities: Camping for two days, hiking, off-roading, and hanging out around the campfire.
Important Information:
- This is primitive camping, so please bring all your supplies.
- No chargers on-site – ensure your vehicle is fully charged. The last charge is at Inyokern. We recommend that SOC be at least 80% from there.
- GMRS Radio is highly recommended. Once we’re in Monache Meadows, there will be no telecommunications. If you have a satellite communicator (e.g., Garmin InReach, Zoleo, etc.), Bring it so we can coordinate.
- You’ll need your own bathroom solution (i.e., cat hole, tent/wag bag).
- Remember to pack out what you pack in!
- Camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, etc.)
- Food and drinks for the weekend
- Cooking supplies
- Hiking and off-roading equipment
- Warm clothing for the evenings
- Any personal items you might need
If anyone has a propane fire pit, please bring it. We can put them all in the center for the group to sit around.
We are limiting this trip to a small group of 17 vehicles. Once the RSVPs are filled, additional details, schedules, and maps will be provided.
